Who i am

I’m Riley Somerville, a photographer and filmmaker based on the BC coast.

My grandfather was a hunter. He’d tell me stories, and somewhere in those stories something stuck. I came to it late — waterfowl, upland birds, fly fishing, and eventually big game — but when I did, it felt like coming back to something rather than starting something new.

That is what my work is built around. I shoot in the field because that’s where I live — backcountry, rivers, and remote terrain across Western Canada. Real conditions, real use, gear that actually gets tested.

When I’m not behind a camera I’m usually building something. My dog Aatu and my fiancée Kaarle are along for whatever comes next.
